Tens of thousands of pieces of personal property were found at Ground Zero and inventoried by the NYPD Property Clerk Division. Some objects were in pristine condition while others showed signs of significant damage. Identified property went back to survivors of the attacks and to families of victims. The NYPD provided a private area for families to receive their loved ones’ belongings.
Objects in this feature represent a small portion of the recovered property contributed to the Museum’s collection by individuals and victims’ families.
