Historical Notes Cleveland, Ohio, native George Spencer lived in West Norwalk, Connecticut, with his wife, Catherine. The couple had two children. In his free time, George could be found mountain biking or sailing. A foreign exchange broker at Euro Brokers, he spoke of retiring to a second career as a history teacher. Curator's Comment For 11 years, George Spencer worked for a bank in London, where the standard dress was formal, and crisply ironed white shirts. George enjoyed tweaking the formality of his British colleagues by importing the American phenomenon of “casual Fridays” – to which he always wore a pink shirt. For years, his family referred to this tradition as PSF = Pink Shirt Fridays. This was one of those favorite Friday shirts. HIDE
