Description Metal, metallic purple in color, carabiner hiking clip belonging to Jeffrey W. Coombs.
Historical Notes Jeffrey Coombs grew up in Dedham, Massachusetts, and lived in Abington with his wife, Christie, and their three school-age children. Jeffrey was a nature lover who planned activities outdoors with his family and was set to hike the Grand Canyon for 10 days in late September. On September 11, Jeffrey, a security analyst at Compaq, boarded Flight 11 heading to California on business. He was 42 years old.
Curator's Comment Jeffrey Coombs loved spending time outdoors, especially with his children. An avid hiker and rock climber, he sometimes wore carabiner clips on his belt around the house and was almost always equipped with a roll of duct tape to make fast repairs, such as patching tent holes during family campouts. According to his wife, Christie, Jeffrey believed there was no problem duct tape could not solve. Both carabiner and tape would likely have accompanied him on the trip to the Grand Canyon he had planned for late September 2001. HIDE
