Description York University scarf belonging to Nigel Bruce Thompson. The scarf is navy blue, white, light blue, and yellow stripes.
Historical Notes Born in Sheffield, England, Nigel Thompson came to the United States in the 1990s. He lived with his wife, Rosana, in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn. A fitness buff, Nigel regularly walked from home across the Brooklyn Bridge to his office in the North Tower. He was a senior foreign exchange broker at Cantor Fitzgerald. On September 11, Nigel was at work on the North Tower’s 105th floor. He was 33 years old.
Curator's Comment A native of Sheffield, England, Nigel Thompson graduated from the University of York in 1990. He kept this scarf as a memento of the undergraduate years that he spent alongside his identical twin, Neal, before the brothers moved to the United States. “It was a happy time in their lives—and in ours,” recalled Nigel’s mother, who would drive to the campus with her husband to deliver food to their sons. After 9/11, Neal established scholarships in economics at the University of York in memory of Nigel, crediting the school as an “essential link in our career success." HIDE
