Wave-style bike rack with seven bikes locked to the rack. The rack and bikes are coated in a fine dust, and several bikes are heavily damaged.
Historical Notes
Bicycle racks were available as amenities for riders, including business tenants in the towers. By 2001, their primary users were messengers with documents and workers delivering orders from nearby delis and restaurants. At 8:46 a.m., bike delivery traffic into the World Trade Center would have been brisk.
This bicycle rack, located on Vesey Street at the northern edge of the complex, was shielded from the impact of cascading debris by 5 World Trade Center.
