Historical NotesMembers of the PAPD deployed to the World Trade Center from commands in New York City and New Jersey. Officer Richard Beatty responded from his post uptown at the George Washington Bridge. He parked the patrol car near Vesey and Church Streets before joining four other PAPD officers. Beatty entered the North Tower to aid in the evacuation of civilians and was injured when the building collapsed. Beatty’s partner, Officer
Bruce Albert Reynolds, responded separately and did not survive.
