Nurul was 35 years old. Shakila was 26.
Curator's Comment Shakila Yasmin loved music, and especially the songs of poet Rabindranath Tagore, a Nobel laureate from her native Bangladesh. She transcribed his lyrics in Bengali in her journal along with other songs she liked. Two weekends before 9/11, Shakila attended an Indian concert with her family. Both Shakila and her husband, Nurul H. Miah, worked for Marsh & McLennan and perished on 9/11. HIDE
