Curator's Comment Inna Basina and her family immigrated to the United States in 1994 as refugees from Ukraine. "It was freedom for her, freedom for our son," Inna’s husband, Vladimir, said of their move. Inna worked nights as a translator while earning her master’s degree in accounting. In 1999, she obtained a position at Cantor Fitzgerald. In March 2001, Inna became an American citizen. "She felt more of a New Yorker than any of us," her brother, Yefim, said after her death. "She loved every corner of the city. . . . She always said that everything happens here—the best and the worst." HIDE
