Halligan
Description
Recovered Halligan tool, with a rusted steel claw (or fork) at one end, a red wooden handle, and a rusted steel blade and tapered pick at the other end.
Historical Notes
Axes and Halligan tools are frequently used together by firefighters. The Halligan is a forcible entry device. It is placed between the door and lock and struck with the back of the ax head. The ax blade is used to break windows and cut through doors and walls
