On 9/11, attorney, volunteer firefighter, and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Glenn J. Winuk died after running toward the Twin Towers to help. Inspired by Glenn’s selflessness, his brother Jay co-founded 9/11 Day with friend David Paine to promote acts of compassion and unity and transform a day of loss into one of positive action. Today, more than 30 million people honor this federally designated day of service with good deeds “focused on our common humanity.”
