- Historical Notes
-
On September 13, 2014, the Welles Remy Crowther Charitable Trust and Boston College hosted the first Red Bandanna Game, honoring Welles Crowther’s legacy with uniforms and gear bearing a red bandanna motif. The bandanna that made Crowther unforgettable on 9/11 was like those he had carried since childhood, at the encouragement of his father.
Boston College honors Welles through the annual Red Bandanna Game. A multi-sport athlete, Welles is remembered not just for how well he played, but for how he treated others. Lacrosse teammate Tyler Jewell recalled, “Welles was the first guy to pat you on the back if you didn’t have a good game.”
