Historical Notes
This symbol steel was made from World Trade Center steel and presented to Nino Vendome, a lower Manhattan restaurateur who repurposed his family’s Canal Street restaurant in support of the rescue effort. Over the course of the recovery period, Nino’s served more than 500,000 free meals to the Ground Zero workforce and revived workers’ spirits with music and conversation.
