- Historical Notes
- Cut from a weeping willow tree planted in 2006, this cross section is a remnant from Memorial Park. Located adjacent to OCME headquarters, the site safeguarded World Trade Center victims’ remains until 2012 and offered a chapel for 9/11 families. Forensic scientists preserved this piece of the willow tree—which often symbolizes grief—and transferred the remains to their current repository at the World Trade Center site.
