World Trade Center Chopper
Description
Tribute motorcycle called the "World Trade Center Chopper," created to commemorate the rebuilding of the World Trade Center complex. The bike's design elements resemble features of the 9/11 Memorial Plaza, 1 World Trade, and the Oculus Center.
The low-riding motorcycle is white with chrome finishing and gold-colored accents.
Historical Notes
Built to commemorate the rebuilding of the World Trade Center, this motorcycle features visual references to the WTC's newest architectural additions. For example, the spokes of the front wheel evoke the structure of One World Trade Center, while the ribbed gas tank resembles the facade of the Oculus. The mirror finish in the back wheel represents the two reflecting pools of the 9/11 Memorial.
The bike was commissioned by Daniel Tishman, whose family’s company, Tishman Construction, supervised much of the rebuilding as well as the construction of the original World Trade Center. It was built by celebrity motorcycle designer Paul Teutul, Jr. and unveiled in October 2011.
