Description
One thousand multicolored miniature origami paper cranes created by Japanese school children. The long strings of stacked cranes are attached to a cardboard label with handwritten text that reads: "We Hope that Peace Comes Soon | Namie High School in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan."
Historical Notes
Students at the Namie High School in Japan’s Fukushima prefecture created this display of 1,000 folded paper cranes as a symbol of peace and healing. They sent this colorful example as a gesture of support to New York City in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.
