Description
Framed Ground Zero access identification card and American Red Cross identification card, both issued to Gary Miller. The two cards are enclosed in the frame with a printed label sticker attached to the glass with whose reads: "SEPTEMBER 11, 2001."
The Ground Zero access identification card is in the left side of the frame and includes a photograph of Miller, an American flag, and printed text that reads: "WTC 2001 | American Red Cross | GARY MILLER | JOB DIRECTOR." The various colored letters at the bottom refer to access granted to areas within Ground Zero, Pier 92, or Pier 94 complexes.
The American Red cross identification card is on the right side of the frame and includes a photograph of Miller, the logo for the American Red Cross, and printed text that reads: "American Red Cross | NYS Incident Response | Gary G.| Miller | Expires: | 11/1/2001 | Full Access & Ground Zero."
Historical Notes
Volunteers of every age, background, and ability flocked to Ground Zero, intent on supporting rescue and recovery operations. Some signed on with organizations such as the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army, while others volunteered independently.
