A Grogger is a Jewish ritual object, a noisemaker used at the holiday of Purim to blot out the sound of the name of a hateful character, Haman, during the reading of the Megillah (Book of Esther).
The Grogger was made between the fall of 2009 and February, 2010, by the artist Micah Roufa. Naomi Fishman, curator of the Museum of ImaJewnation commissioned the piece for the Purim Grogger exhibit at the St. Louis Jewish Community Center. Roufa later donated the Grogger to the 9/11 Museum.
