Historical Notes
As of 2001, the World Trade Center was home to more than 430 businesses from 28 different countries. Approximately 50,000 people worked in the World Trade Center with tens of thousands more passing through the complex each day. The World Trade Center complex contained 12 million square feet of office space and 22 different food and drink vendors.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) was the interstate agency that created and managed the World Trade Center until July 24, 2001. The Port Authority maintained offices in both the North and South Towers throughout the life of the World Trade Center. The World Trade Center's 110 News was a monthly newsletter published for the World Trade Center community by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
