Historical NotesArt for Heart was a collaborative art project dating to 2002, spearheaded by Christy Ferer, widow of 9/11 victim
Neil David Levin. Its impetus arose from Ferer’s then-16-year-old daughter, Ali, who was mourning the loss of her stepfather in the World Trade Center attacks. Ali conceived of Art for Heart as a way to unite children like herself who shared this tragic bond. The project invited bereaved children to create canvas squares for assembly into larger memorial panels.
