Frank Silecchia, Concrete and Excavation Specialist, Laborers' International Union of North America, Local 731
Description
Life-sized Polaroid photograph taken by Joe McNally depicting Local 731 concrete and excavation specialist, Frank Silecchia. Silecchia is wearing a construction vest and has his AMEC 731 hard hat on his head.
Historical Notes
"Silecchia was working with firefighters to remove bodies from 6 World Trade when he saw four crosses - steel girders from Tower 1 that had crashed through the roof. Crews of construction workers removed one and erected it as a memorial at Ground Zero. 'I cried when I saw it, but it brought solace to my heart to know that God was still there. It was like he made a call saying, Hey, Frankie, get my word across.'"
