Description
NYPD ESU rescue helmet. The helmet is bright blue with a cap-style brim, rubber impact rim, and chin strap. A New York City Police Department commemorative sticker is on the front depicting the NYPD logo; a black band cuts across the logo, "09/11/01" printed inside of it. "Always Honored" is printed above the logo and "Never Forgotten" is printed below. The back of the helmet has a large gash, and there are multiple scratches on the exterior. "Lt. John Moran | NYPD ESU" is handwritten on the side of the helmet.
Historical Notes
On 9/11, New York City Police Department’s Emergency Service Unit (ESU) teams responded to the unfolding disaster at the World Trade Center. These teams are trained to assist people trapped or injured in dangerous settings.
