Historical Notes
Carlo Bianchi worked for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey for most of his professional career, employed in various capacities. A significant stretch of Bianchi’s three-decade long career at the PANYNJ was served at the World Trade Center, where he managed commercial retail leasing and rentals—mostly for the Concourse shopping spaces.
Bianchi was present on February 26, 1993, when a bomb was detonated in the World Trade Center’s parking garage. He subsequently participated in the Agency’s emergency response. Bianchi and his “Tower Team” members were presented with the Award for Exceptional Service to help tenant businesses affected by bombing-related economic losses and for the team’s efficiency in resuming retail, banking and food operations at the World Trade Center.
