Historical Notes
Carlo Bianchi worked for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey for most of his professional career, employed in various capacities. A significant stretch of Bianchi’s three-decade long career at the PANYNJ was served at the World Trade Center, where he managed commercial retail leasing and rentals—mostly for the Concourse shopping spaces.
Bianchi was present on February 26, 1993, when a bomb was detonated in the World Trade Center’s parking garage. He subsequently participated in the Agency’s emergency response to the significant smoke and structural damage caused by the explosion. Bianchi’s confrontation with the massive damage, injuries, and six fatalities caused by the February 26th bombing proved a formative career moment, encouraging his subsequent move to JFK Airport. Bianchi retired from the PANYNJ on December 28, 2002.
