Print by Lili Réthi (1894-1969), dated May 9, 1968, depicting installation of the tie-backs anchoring the slurry wall to bedrock on the west side of the site during construction of the World Trade Center. The artist's signature appears in the lower right corner.
To capture the grandeur of the World Trade Center’s construction, architectural artists Lili Réthi and Nicholas Solovioff made sketches for the Port Authority beginning in 1967. These prints chronicle the rise of the Twin Towers through 1973. Books of these illustrations went to World Trade Center consultants, collaborators, and prospective tenants as gifts.
