Print by Nicholas Solovioff (1927-1994), dated 1970, depicting the ceiling and wall construction of the lobby and mezzanine levels inside the North Tower. Scaffolding is being erected between the two stories. The artist's signature appears in the lower left corner.
To capture the grandeur of the World Trade Center’s construction, architectural artists Lili Réthi and Nicholas Solovioff made sketches for the Port Authority beginning in 1967. These prints chronicle the rise of the Twin Towers through 1973. Books of these illustrations went to World Trade Center consultants, collaborators, and prospective tenants as gifts.
