Print by Nicholas Solovioff (1927-1994), dated January 1973, depicting the installation of Fritz Koenig's The Sphere on the World Trade Center Plaza. Three workers are crouched over in the foreground and the The Sphere is centered in front of one of the towers. The artist's signature is at the bottom.
To capture the grandeur of the World Trade Center’s construction, architectural artists Lili Réthi and Nicholas Solovioff made sketches for the Port Authority beginning in 1967. These prints chronicle the rise of the Twin Towers through 1973. Books of these illustrations went to World Trade Center consultants, collaborators, and prospective tenants as gifts.
