Description Tsuda School Alumni Reunion booklet featuring memorial essays written in memory of Nauka Kushitani.
Historical Notes Originally from Japan, Nauka Kushitani moved to the United States in the 1980s and attended graduate school. Settling in New York City with her husband, Naotado, Nauka became a vice president at Fiduciary Trust. On September 11, she was at work near the top of the South Tower. Nauka was 44 years old.
Curator's Comment Prior to moving to the United States in the 1980s, Nauka Kushitani attended Tsuda University, a women’s school in Tokyo, Japan. In 2002, an alumni association memorialized Nauka in this reunion booklet with short essays about her life. Nauka’s sister, Eba—also a graduate of Tsuda—described Nauka as a “giver” in her essay. Eba wrote that when Nauka “found out that I had not prepared for the world history test for the college exam, she skillfully tutored me from ancient history to the present in less than a month.” HIDE
