Historical Notes
In September 2001, Rabbi Stephen Roberts was a senior spiritual care officer for the American Red Cross. Rabbi Roberts performed a management role following the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks, recruiting and overseeing a large team of chaplains to provide emotional and spiritual care at New York City’s Family Assistance Center, established in the wake of the attacks.
