Description
"Twin Cowers" figurines. The cows stand upright with a cow head, four legs, and a tail sticking out from the tower body. The towers are silver in color, and the cows are black and white milk cows. The cow representing the North Tower has an antenna on top of its head.
Historical Notes
In 2000, the public art phenomenon and charity fundraiser known as the Cow Parade arrived in New York City. The concept involved issuing an open call to local artists to decorate a large fiberglass cow figure produced in three shapes: standing, grazing, and reclining. On a temporary basis, the resulting herd of colorful bovines were then placed on view outdoors at interested host sites. Upon the installation’s conclusion, the cow sculptures were auctioned off for charities. The Cow Parade also created merchandise, particularly a line of figurine cow collectibles sold at souvenir stores and gift shops.
