Description
Navy long-sleeve, button-up collared uniform shirt with two breast pockets and two side pockets. An American flag patch is above the left breast pocket and a FEMA Urban Search and Rescue patch is above the right breast pocket. Embroidered on the FEMA patch is the name: "West | California Task Force 1." On the upper left sleeve is a Los Angeles City Fire Department patch; on the upper right sleeve is a FEMA task force patch.
Historical Notes
Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Battalion Chief Gregory A. West worked as an Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) volunteer at Ground Zero from September 11, 2001, until September 22, 2001. He was deployed as a member of the California Task Force 1 (CA-TK1), one of the twenty-eight task forces sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
