Spire on the Hudson
Lithograph print titled Spire on the Hudson, created by Brenda Berkman (b. 1951). The print depicts the image of a barge on the Hudson River carrying pieces of the spire for the One World Trade Center building. The barge is being pushed by a tugboat. One World Trade Center rises in the background as it joins other iconic structures of the harbor skyline such as the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. The print is signed.
This print is part of a series titled 36 Views of One World Trade Center, created by 9/11 first responder and FDNY member Brenda Berkman as she documented the construction of the new One World Trade Center building from 36 vantage points around the city. For Berkman, printmaking became a path through the trauma she had experienced on 9/11 and in the subsequent months that she spent at Ground Zero.
