Description
Lithograph print created by Brenda Berkman titled View from the Q Train. The print depicts a view of the lower Manhattan skyline as seen from inside a Q train crossing over the Manhattan Bridge. The One World Trade Center building is framed by the window of the subway door. Graffiti on two bridge beams references two Japanese artists famous for their 'Views' series who influenced the artist. On the left is "Hiroshige" and on the right "Hokusai" inscribed in Kanji. The print is signed in the lower right corner.
Historical Notes
This print is part of a series titled 36 Views of One World Trade Center created by 9/11 first responder and FDNY member Brenda Berkman as she documented the construction of the new One World Trade Center building from 36 vantage points around the city. For Berkman, printmaking became a path out of the trauma she had experienced on 9/11 and in the months she spent at Ground Zero.
