Description
Recovered red mesh baseball cap with "W.T.C. | Fire Safety Team" printed in white text on the front. The cap is completely crushed, with the bill of the cap completely covered by its collapsed body. The cap is burned in places and covered in fine dust. There are small rips and tears throughout.
Historical Notes
The Port Authority instituted a fire warden program after the 1993 bombing and provided fire safety training for World Trade Center tenants. Fire wardens were responsible for checking their floors, managing drills, and communicating with authorities in an emergency. This training saved many lives on 9/11. This damaged cap was recovered at Ground Zero.
