Description
Small souvenir metal lunchbox made by Lake-A-Take. The lunchbox is yellow with a red plastic handle. The front of the lunchbox has a colorful illustration of iconic NYC imagery, including a yellow cab, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, a big apple, a cruise ship, and the World Trade Center Twin Towers. Text on the front reads "World Trade Center | Observation Deck." The back is an illustration of a red heart with "New York" in black text below.
Historical Notes
At 1,377 feet, the South Tower Observation Deck’s outdoor viewing platform was the highest in the world. On a clear day, one could see for 45 miles in each direction from the Observation Deck. On average, the Observation Deck attracted 1.8 million visitors per year. From the opening day of the Observation Deck in December 1975, through close of business the night of September 10, 2001, approximately 46,350,000 visitors experienced the views from the top of the South Tower.
