Flier for the "Skyscraper Safety Campaign," an organization of 9/11 victim families and first responders aimed at enforcing New York Fire and Building codes in New York City.
In the wake of the 9/11 attacks, Americans and people from around the world demanded answers. Government scientists, university researchers, elected officials, counterterrorism experts, and independent analysts studied the causes and consequences of the attacks.
Some family members of those killed on 9/11 advocated for government investigations. The findings of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (the 9/11 Commission) included recommendations to strengthen homeland security. Citizen-driven campaigns advanced various causes including disaster preparedness and skyscraper safety.
