Description
Flier for Nino's Restaurant requesting volunteers to serve recovery workers at the restaurant.
Historical Notes
On September 13, Antonio "Nino" Vendome decided to repurpose his family’s Canal Street restaurant in support of the rescue effort. Over the course of the recovery period, Nino’s served more than 500,000 free meals to the Ground Zero workforce and also revived workers’ spirits with music and conversation. The more than 10,000 volunteers at Nino’s, papered the walls with children’s drawings and offered sustenance for body and soul. Outside, volunteers collected donations for Nino’s 9/11 Fund to sustain operations.
