Description
Flier requesting volunteers to gather at Christopher Street and the West Side Highway to support rescue and recovery workers at Ground Zero.
Historical Notes
On 9/11, officials closed the West Side Highway to all but emergency vehicles responding to the World Trade Center. It remained the main corridor for moving people and supplies to and from Ground Zero even after the highway reopened to all traffic. Individuals lined the road, supporting rescue and recovery workers with words of encouragement and applause. Stretching along West Street, Point Thank You became centered at the intersection of Christopher and West Streets.
