Historical Notes
The selflessness of first responders and many others on and after 9/11, together with the widely experienced impulse to help others in the aftermath of the attacks, forged a connection between 9/11 remembrance and public service. Immediately following the attacks and continuing long after, many people organized charitable events to raise support for victims' families, first responder agencies, and other philanthropic causes.
