Historical Notes
The “Patriot Parades” – one marking the first anniversary of 9/11 and another commemorating the 10th – were spearheaded by W. Steven Martin, a Phoenix, Arizona-based radio personality. The 30-mile parade route in the Phoenix metropolitan area came together under the premise that one person would ride their motorcycle in honor of each 9/11 victim. Commemorative wristbands with victims’ names were worn by the event riders.
