Small American stick flag left at the 9/11 Memorial in memory of Arlene T. Babakitis. A handwritten note on the flag stripes reads: "In Loving Memory | 15th Anniversary | Arlene Babakitis | I will never forget | how you and Nancy Perez | were comforting me | May you, Nancy, and all Port Authority | Coworkers RIP - until we meet again! | With love, Haydee Lillo | 9/11/16."

Historical Notes
Arlene Babakitis grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Friends noted her pride in 2001 when she and her two sons moved into their own home in Secaucus, New Jersey. After 30 years working for the Port Authority, Arlene was a coordinator of the E-ZPass toll collection system. On September 11, Arlene evacuated from the North Tower to street level just before the tower collapsed. She was 47 years old.
