Historical Notes
Born in Brooklyn, Salvatore Calabro lived on Staten Island with Francine, his wife and childhood sweetheart, and their two sons. A 14-year FDNY veteran and member of Ladder Company 101, Salvatore’s firehouse was dubbed Sal’s House in his honor. On September 11, though his shift had just ended, Firefighter Calabro responded with his company to the World Trade Center. He was 38 years old.
