Historical Notes
Lifelong Brooklyn resident Gerald Atwood lived with his wife, Barbara, and their two children. The couple was expecting their third child. After running a home improvement business, Gerald became a firefighter with FDNY Ladder Company 21, where at Christmas he dressed up as the firehouse Santa Claus. On September 11, Firefighter Atwood and his unit responded to the World Trade Center. He was 38 years old.
