Description Porsche car key belonging to Jonathan J. Uman. The key is attached to a Porsche key chain.
Historical Notes Born in New Hyde Park on Long Island, Jonathan Uman lived in Westport, Connecticut, with his wife, Julie, and their two young children. He played bass guitar in a band and listened to Shakespeare during commutes to eSpeed, the Cantor Fitzgerald subsidiary where he was a director of mergers and acquisitions. On September 11, he was at work on the North Tower’s 105th floor. He was 33 years old.
Curator's Comment When Jonathan Uman was a teenager, he played the bass, imitated Elvis, and dreamed of owning a Porsche sports car. His stepfather Harvey told him that if he went to a local college that offered lower in-state tuition, the family would be able to buy him that car. Jonathan instead decided to attend Carnegie Mellon University and someday purchase a Porsche on his own. In spring 2001, he did just that. Harvey later recalled the “beaming smiles” and “roaring laughter” the two shared during their first ride in the Porsche as some of his happiest memories with Jonathan. HIDE
