Historical Notes Brooklyn-born Rosemary Smith lived in Travis, Staten Island, with her daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren. Rosemary spoke of one day starting a business making chocolates. In the meantime, she filled orders from friends for homemade candy and worked at Sidley Austin Brown & Wood as a switchboard operator. On September 11, she was at her office on the North Tower’s 57th floor. She was 61 years old.
