Brooklyn native David DeRubbio lived in Bensonhurst with his wife, Lorraine, and their daughter. He collected MAD magazines and was a fan of the New York Rangers hockey team. He would often spar in good humor with his daughter, who rooted for the Long Island Islanders. On September 11, David, a firefighter, responded with FDNY Engine Company 226 to the towers. Firefighter DeRubbio was 38 years old.
