Description Pair of dangle earrings made with clear and gold beads created by Joanne Flora Weil.
Historical Notes Joanne Weil was born and lived in New York City. In her free time, she made jewelry from antique glass and beads. She also enjoyed traveling and made regular trips to Mexico and the Turks and Caicos Islands. On September 11, Joanne was on the South Tower’s 85th floor at Harris Beach LLP, where she worked as an attorney. She was 39 years old.
Curator's Comment Joanne Weil was passionate about travel but always took steps to live close to her family. Early in her career, she declined a job at a government agency that would have required her to keep her location a secret. “What she cared about, and who she cared about, were what was important to her,” Joanne’s mother attested. As a pastime, Joanne searched for unique beads and antique glass to craft into jewelry. After 9/11, family and friends wore Joanne’s creations in her memory. HIDE
