Historical Notes
Diane DiGiacomo was a peace officer with the Humane Law Enforcement division of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), an agency that responded to 9/11. Its officers sought to rescue animals in homes near the World Trade Center site from which residents had been evacuated or to which they were unable to return after the emergency.
