Historical Notes
Bronx-born Salvatore Pepe lived in Elmhurst, Queens, with his wife, Catherine, and their young son. Every year, he gathered relatives to can tomatoes for winter cooking. He and Catherine also took an annual excursion to the Delaware Water Gap to stargaze. On September 11, Salvatore was on the North Tower’s 97th floor, where he was an assistant vice president at Marsh & McLennan. He was 45 years old.
