Historical Notes Brooklyn native Edward Mazzella lived in Monroe, New York, with his wife, Kay. They had raised two children. Inspired by a trip to Italy, Edward took up painting in 1993 and turned his sunroom into a studio. At Cantor Fitzgerald, he was a senior vice president for equity sales. On September 11—three days before his retirement date—Edward was at work on the North Tower’s 104th floor. He was 62 years old.
