Historical Notes New Jersey native Norman Rossinow grew up in North Caldwell. He lived in Cedar Grove with his wife, Susan. Norman enjoyed the challenge of re-creating dishes he had tasted at restaurants. His own specialties were Spanish omelets and banana nut pancakes. On September 11, Norman was at work on the South Tower’s 105th floor at Aon Corporation, where he was a senior vice president. He was 39 years old.
Curator's Comment Once Norman Rossinow started playing the drums, “there was no stopping him,” his mother remembered. Every day she sat with their dog on the floor of his room and listened to him practice. The “continuous banging of those drums” caused friction in the house, recalled his brother, Seth. Their parents soundproofed Norman’s room and instituted “drumming hours,” though Norman continued to tap away on tables, car dashboards, and even his friends’ shoulders. Seth would later look back with fondness on Norman’s drumming, concluding that it “was Norman at his happiest . . . total peace.” HIDE
